about

Autumns returns to reset our switches in this new EP for Opal which has grown from Irish folklore, through Derry riots to the Danse Macabre we see on the cover. As always with Christian Donaghey’s music, it’s ferociously pissed off, funky EBM post-punk designed to shred floors (Have you seen Autumns live yet??).

‘Alex, Can You Take The Bass Out?’ sets us off into SH-101 abandon with a super tightly wound arp pulsing the track through. The punk trio concept is strong throughout this release and here, synth, drum and voice is all that’s needed to open the gate. ‘Old Ireland’ is a lead-heavy grind of slow, junky sawtooths set in a gothic RnB zone. ‘Doire Dog Race’ dons the mask for a gassed up Front 242 mission into the night, high speed. ‘Trapped Fingers’ closes with an excess of sweat in the eyes, Commando style wood blocks batter around but the riff just keeps on banging. Impassioned dance music for the macabre; staring the reaper in the face.
